Plant a seed for our future generation

You’ve heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Academy Prep is  transforming our communities, one child at a time. However, Academy Prep can’t do it without the help of others in the community, like you. One of the most powerful ways to do this is through a planned gift, which is a charitable gift made from the donation of securities, in your financial plans, or in your overall estate. There are also potential tax savings with this kind of giving.

Ways to make a gift:

  • Gifts of appreciated stock - Generally, if you contribute appreciated stock you have held longer than one year, you avoid capital gains tax and receive an income-tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the stock as of the date of the gift. To donate stock, please contact the Development Director, Lacey Nash Miller.
  • Charitable Bequest - Just a few sentences in your will or trust are all that is needed. The official legal bequest language for Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg is: “I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg [written percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose.” To make a charitable bequest, you will need a current will or revocable living trust. Remember that this gift is flexible because you are not actually making a gift until after your lifetime and you can change your mind at any time. You can structure the bequest to leave a specific item or amount of money, make the gift contingent on certain events, or leave a percentage of your estate to us.
  • Life Insurance - Individuals owning life insurance policies that are no longer needed and are fully paid can designate Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg to be the beneficiary of the policy.
